Vandorf Weekend

It's been quite sometime since I've posted, .... I've been meaning to but couldn't think of anything all that interesting to write about.

So finally me and Jess got to have a girls/Bunny weekend and we even managed to take a couple pictures of bunnies.

Above are my New Cesar/Promiscuous Babies... all are keepers except 1. A little buck with a small white dot on his chest.... Please email me if interested!

In this litter I have 2 bucks and 2 does, one doe will be big but the other is my pick:

Introducing "Jentle's La Dolce Vita", I really like this doe... She's so laid back and has wonderful type (her ears are shorter than how they look in the pic!"

Not only are me and Jess friends.... But so are our bunnies!!! In this picture is "Bbeary's Tobasco Fiasco" and "Jentle's La Dolce Vita"

As for Show Results... I was pleasantly Surprised!

Show A - Judge - Paul Kyle:

BOB - Posey's Incognito (Super love how this buck is turning out!!!! He's gonna give it a good go at convention!!

Show B - Judge - John Richter:

BOS - Wendover's Merlin (For Sale ... please email if interested... now he's got 2 legs!)

BOSG - Posey's Incognito

BOG - Jentle's Cleopatra

All in all had a really good time.... They had a spare judgeing table there and me and Jess were so greatful to everyone that brought up different examples of the breed they raised for us to look over. I really ejoyed talking to the breeders about the subtle things to look for in each breed... Yes, the standard is absolutely great... but I don't think anything can compare to the hands on approach!! I'm looking very forward to becoming a registrar and eventually a judge with Jessica!

So now that the Spring shows have come to an end (which I'm kinda happy about)... I can take the summer to breed my bunnies and do some extra chores!!... might even get a part time job so I can go on a crazy shopping spree in Kentucky!!.... Andrew's excited to have some authentic KFC lol.... and I caught him measuring our luggage to see if he'll be ale to fit a louisville slugger.... it's gonna be so much fun!!!

My next bunny event will be the DRCBA picnic in July (I'd really appreciate any info on it since I've never been there before)

I've gotta bunch of does bred, but I think I'm going to wait and confirm pregnances before I post... I've had people email me for upcoming litters only to dissapoint them with the news that the does had missed

Anyhoo.... The boys have been plucked and the girls have been bred.... all that's left is cage cleaning!... I hope everyone has a great summer!!!!!!

Quick update before a busy weekend

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update before a very busy weekend.

Promiscuous had 4 beautiful black babies... I was excited for this litter because it's the same breeding I got Cleopatra from... but they're all black ... I was looking forward to a nice agouti buck. It's ok, I'll love them just the same.

Peek-a-boo went to town building a nest last night... She's not due until sunday but I think she'll have them early.

Tikki has also started building... if sophia starts... I won't have enough nest boxes!!!

Anywho, I'm off to Jessica's tomorrow for a sleepover.. and our baby bunnies will have a playdate. Then saturday is The Elmira Show and sunday is the Schomberg Fair where the Dominion club holds a show. So hopefully monday I'll have baby pictures and pictures from the shows to post.

alrighty... off to dance class.

Show News

Back from Canandaigua! or as Jess and I say it (Can-AN-day-GOOOO-AAAHH)

It was a GREAT show! Placing- wise I did ok, I think it was the town that made it great... only 3 hours drive, all Jess and I's favorite shops and eateries all on the same street... got there before midnight... even got to the show ontime!! We just kept waiting for something to go wrong.. The only downside, was that I took a ton of pictures and they all look like poop... frown.

So, results:

Cesar: 2nd in both shows

Incognito: 1st in both shows (not enough for a leg)... Fantastic comments from the judges!!!

Cheerleader... only jr self doe shown but really nice comments

Cleopatra... only agouti jr doe... my assesment of her was right on the money... judges LOVED her!... but her coat is baby soft so Sr doe beat her ... NEXT TIME!

Siren: If she was in coat she would have been a contender for BIS... (Paul Kyle judged BIS and I asked him

Sabre: SOLD! she went to a lady named Bridgette. Very nice lady, said she will show more sables now that she knows someone else with them in the area.

All in all a good day, Jess did really really well, and the whole car ride there she was saying "I won't get anything, but I'm so happy to be going to a bunny show"... the right attitude really does pay off Jess!!... BOB and BOS... Good Job (check out show picks on Jess' website www.bumblebearyangoras.com )

Baby time-

Delta has the CUTEST babies... I never thought sable babies could be cuter than holland babies (jersies are still the ugliest... they look like donkies for awhile) My sable babies are starting to chase after mum... they are so noisy! purrs, grunts, squeeks... luv 'em! and chunky! I already find myself typing them over and they haven't opened their eyes yet.... it's going to be hard to decide between the 4 of them... but I still have 6 weeks to decide.

Promiscuous is about to pop, I feel the babies arguing like teenage girls in there "This is my room, get out! your foot is on my face, move over!"... and promiscuous is sayin... anybody got any snacks.... I sure could use a snack.. ya, definately some oats or somethin' "

Ok, I'm having too much fun now.

Next weekend is a 2 show weekend. Saturday the 24th is Elmira, ON which is a single ARBA show and I'm having a sleepover at Jess' house (I'm just too lazy to drive all that way in the morning, and jess lives like, 10 minutes from there)

And sunday is a single DRCBA show in Schomberg, ON.... only 20 minutes from my house.

It'll be fun, I'm bringing my pet jersies to sell and maybe lady in Waiting... I haven't heard back from the girl who wanted her so she's available again.

So ya.... next post... baby pictures!

Just a quick note

Last weekend I've finally got my website updated. I have 2 whole does pages!!

I've added 3 to the for sale page, they are U-Turn x Lady in Waiting babies. I've decided only to keep one and sell the others as pets. there's a cute broken blue otter from that litter for sale... Really cute head and ear, but I don't think her body will be competitive... but, If anyone is looking for a small breeding doe, she has great bodies in her pedigree and could potentially throw something nice.

Other than updates.... I bought my plane ticket to Louisville! Convention here I come!!... Me and andrew have new lougage and canada flag lougage tags... we're all set, except there's still 6 months to go

Me Jess and Joanne are heading down to the Fingerlakes RBA show this weekend held in Canandaigua, NY

I'm bringing 8!! (including 2 sables)... that's the most I've shown in over a year! Nobody looks super fantastic, but it'll be fun none the less. I'm just happy to be going to a show.

On the baby front, I've got a whole bunch bred and due very soon. Delta the Sable had 5 babies... boy was I happy when I only counted 5!.... 4 are sables and 1 is a himi.

Jess and I have also started studying for the registrar's exam hard core. We send each other "Rabbit IQ tests" .... so far I'm not doin' so hot lol... I didn't realize how much information there is to soak up... it's interesting.  So if anyone wants to put a few questions together, perhaps on a breed you specialize in that I don't raise, and send them over ... Jess and I would really appreciate it!!

That's about it. Baby pictures and pictures of my rabbitry (well, the section of my basement where the bunnies are kept) will be up on the site by this weekend.

And They're Here!!

After quite the weekend, my bunnies are here!

Andrew and I left for the Airport at 8:00 (the bunnies were due to arrive at 8:43pm) we stopped for dinner on the way and got there for 9:20.... only to hear that they were put on another flight and wouldn't arrive until 12:10am ... I was not impressed with the thought of driving home at 1am knowing full well I had to get up for work the next morning... but we made the most of it and went and saw a movie..

So now that they're home and settled I had the chance to really look at them yesterday.

Here goes:

Hero, has the exact same face as prometheus... not exactly the same attitude.. but I'm still super happy to have him here.

Tikki:... Way smaller than I thought she'd be... I was certain she'd be 5lbs! Jasmine (her mom) was a cow... a pretty cow, but a cow none the less... So I'm Super happy she's small, a great mom, and is out of Jasmine!

Sophia Pointed White Doe)... I really haven't been able to get my hands on her, she's got a cute head and ear, but her wool has cuased some problems... she's one of those bunnies that mats from the inside out... she looks beautiful, but once you touch her you realize she's become one solid cotton mat... so that will be coming off in sections this week, and I'll post once I've had the chance to really type her over.

Now for the juniors... I took a couple pictures today... the sun was setting so I apologize that they all have a golden glow...

Posey's Cheerleader:

Love this little Doe!!... She is a little TOO happy, I get nervous when open the cage door, she just about leaps out at me every time. Great head, great body... just wish her coat was a little more dense... I think she's gonna be the next peek-a-boo..

Posey's Incognito:

I must admit, this picture doesn't do him justice!! He has a very full face... short, thick ears... and a body to die for... Where cheerleader lacked in coat,... incognito makes up for it... 10 fold!! He's got the right attitude and poses like a dream... and upright ears to boot!!....  This is gonna be a fun show season!!

I'll try andget Pictures of Tikki, Sophia and Hero up soon.

And as for my sables... I have one favorite. Lone Pine's Siren:

Not that I don't like the other two, but they're just settling in and honestly, I'm not used to large rabbits and they kinda scare me lol... but not Siren, She is so sweet, she just loves being pat, she just about falls asleep when I rub her head... don't mind the shadow of me in this picture, or the fact that she's molting...I'm really excited about my sables and can't wait for the new babies (it's Delta that's pregnant)... but for Siren, I think she's got alot of potential, she narrows a tad in the HQ and has a flat spot on her back, but other than that I think she's super nice... maybe even has a shot at convention

Anywho, I'll try to update everything this weekend.... maybe with some lady in waiting baby pictures!

Lone Pine Auction

Today's the big Day!!! New bunnies are a'commin'!

Yesterday was the Lone Pine rabbit auction at the O'Conner Farm.

Not too big of a turn out, but that meant some really great deals!! As far as equipment I picked up:

524"x24" stacking cages, a new 2 hole carrier, a huge plastic bottom cage (originall for Goose, but that has changed...) and an outdoor wire run for the buns... I spent next to nothing!!!

I even managed to Sell U-Turn and Tinker Toy.

Now for the kicker,

Carol was originally supposed to accompany to this auction, but due unforseen wait times at the mechanic, she showed up late, therefor leaving me to my impulsive self and I wound up bringing home 3 beautiful American Sable Does... one of which is bred and due in 10 days. When I asked how many babies they usually have, the answer I got back was "oh, not many maybe 8-10" with a shrug of the shoulders..... 8-10!!!!!! OMG!! What am I gonna do with all those sables?!?!

Looks like I'll be showing some sables this year lol. They didn't have Names so I named Them, Sabre, Siren and Delta... named after female Gladiators... cuz these things are pure muscle (not exactly what I'm used to)

It'll be a good learning experience especially when going through the process of becoming a registrar and judge.

So now the pregnant doe get's the huge plastic cage.

Watch for tomorrow's post!... New bunnies!!!!

With the Good comes the Bad

This past weekend me and Jessica ventured to the Baxter spring show held by the DRCBA

It was a nice break from the eat, sleep, work, routine.

We got there just in time to nab the last available table. It was a decent sized show in a not so decent sized hall lol. Everyone had to become good friends considering the proximity in which we were all standing. Jersies were up first and all my bunnies did really well winning every class entered. A surprise BOB went to Merlin and a not so big suprise Reserve of Breed went to Cleopatra (Promiscuous x Cesar baby) I'm so very excited for her she's my best shot for a convention placing this year.

Jess managed to take home a boat load of trophies winning, BOB, ROB, Breeders Herd and even Best in Show with Bbeary's Calliope way to go Jess!

Another good note, Lady in Waiting's babies look like they're going to make it after all, I have my eye on the solids as my favorites so far.

Yet another good note.... NEW BUNNIES COMING THIS SUNDAY!!! after months of talking about my new additions... they're finally coming!

good news #4... Sold 2 bunnies, I was hesitant to sell the 2 blacks from Promiscuous' litter because I think they're gonna be stellar, but I'm gonna be even pickier this year. The black doe went to a really nice lady named Thadeene and her kids and I expect to see her on the show table in no time, they named her Jentle's Victorious.

Bad news time, Miss Kitty wasn't doin so hot before I left for baxter, she was lying in her box trying to get those other babies out. She was a tiny girl and there was a huge chance she was going to have complications. She had passed away while we were at the show and my heart just sank, she was a very sweet little doe and had a lot going for her.  I plan to meet up with Jennea at convention and hopefully get a Miss Kitty relative.

Tonight I'll be rebreeding Promiscuous and Cesar to hopefully make me a nice Junior Chestnut buck for convention.

And this sunday I'll be breeding Peek-a-boo with Hero.... for some stellar blue babies.

Speaking of Peek-a-boo, For the longest time I've been meaning to get her registered, I say it at every show I go to, "Oh, remind me to get peeky registered" I happen to sit down at my computer last week and rustled through some papers... low and behold... A registration certificate with Peeky's name on it!!! from 2006!!!! I can't for the life of me remember doing it, but I'm sure glad I didn't do it again!

Sometime next week I'll update my site and take a bunch off and add all my new ones.

That's it for now!

Decisions, Decisions.

I had a lady call me looking for a baby jersey wooly. I only had one I really wanted to sell so I told her about the little black doe from Promiscuous' litter. I hadn't really evaluated her in quite sometime, she has just been living the good life, no blower, no posing... just freedom, food and play time.

Well, after discussing her with the nice lady, I went downstairs to give her a little brushing... low and behold... I really like her! oh no!... although she's not as nice as her sister cleopatra... she is a VERY nice little doe.... darn!... whatever happens, happens... but I know I need to redo this breeding for sure!

I'm very excited for the show this weekend.. My seniors look horrible, but it's the first time showing the little guys and I'd love to hear comments on them... it's hard, I feel them over everyday and convince myself they're great... but I could be completely bias.  We'll just have to see!

On a not so great note, Miss kitty had a very large dead kit yesterday and I feel quite a few still in there and she's 3 days past due.

And another of Lady's babies died. They all don't look so hot, very tiny for their age...

I know I promised pictures... this weekend I swear!

DRCBA Show this weekend

I have officially put in my entries for the Baxter Easter Bash Show this weekend in which the DRCBA is hosting.

I haven't been to this show in years, and am actually looking quite forward to it.

This is Who I've entered:

McKie's Cesar, Wendover's Merlin, Jentle's Promiscuous, Jentle's Peek-a-boo, Jentle's Inconspicuous, Jentle's Cleopatra, and the black doe I'll be donating to the raffle... oh, and ofcourse Hope (Who btw, is NOT pregnant... darn)

This weekend, Tchatch graduated puppy class with flying colours... they didn't fail anyone (although they should have) but I was still really nervous. She did all her commands brilliantly.. and I'm looking forward to putting her in some other classes like flyball or agility... I think she would be awesome!

Ofcourse I know no one is shocked when they hear I didn't take any new pictures... but I did manage to send mom a picture of inconspicuous and Cesar's trophy from Lansing... so those are on the site now.

Jessica was going to go down to the Olean New York show this weekend, but for a lack of driver she'll be coming to Baxter with me instead...yay!

I think that's about it... no babies for kitty... yet.

I just heard that Hero won another BOS this past weekend for Kim... he's coming home next weekend... if all goes according to plan!
